Requirements for Admission, and Time of Examination.

Candidates for admission to college must present satisfactory testimonials of good moral character; and certificates of regular dismission will be required from those who have been members of other colleges.

Candidates for the Freshman Class are examined in the following books and subjects: —

Greek Reader, - Colton or Felton; or four books of Xenophon's

Anabasis, and two books of Homer's Iliad.

Greek Grammar,- Hadley.

MATHEMATICS.

Arithmetic, including the Metrical System.
Loomis's Geometry, Four Books.
Loomis's Algebra, to Quadratic Equations.

ENGLISH.

Ancient and Modern History.

Ancient and Modern Geography.

English Grammar.

Those who wish to take only the literary and scientific course must be acquainted with the preceding branches, except the Latin

and Greek. Students contemplating a select course must have such literary acquirements as will fit them to pursue their proposed course of study with promise of success.

Candidates for admission must be at least fourteen years of age. All candidates for advanced standing are examined in the preparatory studies, and also in those previously pursued by the classes they propose to enter, or in other studies equivalent to them. They will be charged a fee, varying from two to eighteen dollars, according to their different degrees of advancement, unless such standing shall have been obtained at another college. No candidate can be admitted later than the beginning of the senior year.

The regular examination for admission to college takes place on the Tuesday preceding Commencement, and on the first day of the following term.

Entering the University will be considered a pledge to obey its rules and regulations.

Ladies are admitted to equal privileges in the University with gentlemen.
