The chapter on estimating costs is based largely on the measurement rules and other information contained in the "Price Guide" published by the Painting and Decorating Contractors of America.

The section dealing with cost and operating records reproduces with only slight alteration the business record system from "Painting Business Management," copyrighted by the National Lead Co.

Valuable assistance was also obtained from the Brotherhood of Painters and individual painting and decorating contractors.

The material presented herewith is for use as an aid in instruction in certain educational activities of the armed forces. The statements and opinions contained are those of the authors.
