THE WORLD WILDLIFE FUND
British National Appeal

7-8 Plumtree Court, London E.C.4 (01-353 2615/3789)

President: H.R.H. The Duke of Edinburgh, KG, KT, OM, GBE
Chairman: Peter Scott, CBE, DSC
Administrator: Arnold Thorne

The World Wildlife Fund is an international charitable foundation devoted to the concept that conservation is for the benefit of man. At one end of its scale of activities it is trying to save certain animal and plant species from extinction and at the other end it extends over the whole intricate relationship between water, soil, plants, animals and man himself.

WWF exists to raise voluntary funds through National Appeals in a number of different countries, and after taking the best possible technical advice (provided through the International Union for the Conservation of Nature and other qualified agencies) to distribute the money for saving wildlife and wild places, wherever possible through existing organisations. One third of the funds raised by National Appeals is at the disposal of the National Trustees and may be retained for home conservation.

WWF also works in close co-operation with the International Council for Bird Preservation and the Fauna Preservation Society, and so far as conservation in Britain is concerned, with the Council for Nature and the County Naturalists' Trusts.

WWF has its headquarters in Switzerland, and is controlled by a Board of International Trustees with H.R.H. The Prince of the Netherlands as President and Peter Scott as Chairman. The President of the British National Appeal (known as "WILDLIFE”) is H.R.H. The Duke of Edinburgh, who is also a member of the Board of International Trustees.
