This Review, the oldest English Quarterly Review of Jurisprudence, being the
combined Law Magazine, founded in 1828 by Abraham Hayward, of the Western
Circuit, Q.C., and Law Review, founded in 1844, passed, in 1875, into the hands of
new Proprietors, and under the Editorship of Mr. Taswell-Langmead, B.C.L. Oxon.,
of Lincoln's Inn, and of Mr. C. H. E. Carmichael, M.A. Oxon., of the Inner Temple.
It was continued, after the death of Professor Taswell-Langmead in 1883, by the late
Mr. C. H. E. Carmichael, M.A., assisted by Mr. W. P. Eversley, B.C.L. Oxon., of
the South-Eastern Circuit, and for some time was edited by Sir Sherston Baker, Bart.,
Recorder of Barnstaple and Bideford. With the last quarterly issue in 1897, it again
changed hands, and under the new management it is hoped it will continue to maintain
its high position as the leading Journal of Jurisprudence.

The Review frequently contains select cases, either Foreign, Colonial, Scotch, or American, and will continue to keep its readers informed of the progress of Juridical Science on the Continent.

A special feature is made of the Reviewing of Law Books and Colonial American and Foreign legal periodicals, so that readers of the Law Magazine will be able to find in its pages all that is worth knowing about the latest legal publications. The services of eminent Reviewers have been retained, and every publication worthy of notice will be critically and impartially reviewed upon its merits.
