Stran 1097 - Firearms make some attacks possible that simply would not occur without firearms. They permit attacks at greater range and from positions of better concealment than other weapons. They also permit attacks by persons physically or psychologically unable to overpower their victim through violent physical contact.
Stran 1098 - The most easily manipulated variable in the homicidal process is the availability of the weapon. Statistical evidence and clinical studies indicate a positive correlation between the incidence of homicide and the availability of weapons. The nature of the weapon immediately available determines the outcome.
