This beautiful Italian binding is believed to have belonged at one time to Demetrio Canevari, physician to Pope Urban VII. He acquired considerable reputation for his knowledge of medicine, languages, and letters, and possessed a fine library, containing the only books known to have borne the motto

OPOQE KAI MH A0=122 (“Straightforward, and not obliquely”).
