I have the honour to inform you that the Governor of Nyasaland has submitted a recommendation to the competent authorities of His Majesty's Government that the accession of the protectorate to the Anglo-Esthonian agreement should be withdrawn as it has been of no practical importance.

(2) I therefore have the honour to request that you will be so good as to notify the Esthonian Government of the withdrawal of this protectorate from the agreement as from six months from the date of this Note, in accordance with the provisions of clause 5 of the Notes exchanged between the two Governments on July 20, 1920.

I have the honour to acknowledge receipt of your Note of the 12th instant, No. N. 3999/3999/59, requesting me to notify the Esthonian Government that the Nyasaland Protectorate is withdrawn from the Anglo-Esthonian agreement as from six months from the date of the Foreign Office letter, May 12, 1922, in accordance with the provisions of clause 5 of the Notes exchanged between Great Britain and Esthonia on July 20, 1920, and have the honour to state that I have notified my Government accordingly.

J'ai l'honneur de vous faire savoir que le gouverneur du Nyassaland a proposé aux autorités compétentes du Gouvernement de Sa Majesté que l'adhésion du Protectorat à l'accord anglo-esthonien soit annulée, cette adhésion n'ayant comporté aucune conséquence pratique.

2. En conséquence j'ai l'honneur de vous inviter à bien vouloir notifier au Gouvernement esthonien le retrait de l'adhésion de ce Protectorat au dit accord, à l'expiration d'un délai de six mois, à dater de la présente note, conformément aux dispositions de l'Art. 5 des notes échangées entre les deux gouvernements, le 20 juillet 1920.

J'ai donc l'honneur de vous informer que j'ai transmis cette notification à mon Gouvernement.

SIR,

I am directed by the Earl of Balfour to inform you that the Government of the Dominion of Canada, having expressed their desire that the provisions of the agreement between the Government of the United Kingdom and the Russian Soviet Government for the resumption of trade and commerce between the two countries, which was signed at London on the 16th day of March 1921, should apply also to Canada, and to merchandise the produce and manufacture of Canada, it is proposed that the provisions of that agreement shall be held to apply to the Dominion of Canada and to govern the relations between Čanada and Russia.

2. Should your Government agree to this proposal, I am to request that you will address to me a Note in confirmation of this arrangement, which may then be regarded as being completed and having full effect as from the date of the present exchange of Notes.

July 3, 1922.

I am directed by M. Chicherin, the People's Commissar for Foreign Affairs, to acknowledge the receipt of your note of to-day's date, informing me that the Government of the Dominion of Canada, having expressed their desire that the provisions of the agreement between the Government of the United Kingdom and the Russian Soviet Government for the resumption of trade and commerce between the two countries, which was signed at London on the 16th day of March, 1921, should also apply to Canada and to merchandise the produce and manufacture of Canada, it is proposed that the provisions of that agreement shall be held to apply to the Dominion of Canada and to govern the relations between Canada and Russia.

I am to inform you in reply that my Government agree to this arrangement, which is regarded as being completed and having full effect as from to-day's date.
