We have been advised that 1 desk NSN-7110-00-143-0832 was received by USPS Vehicle Maintenance Facility, Raleigh, N.C. and found to be defective. The locking mechanism does not lock the file drawer and the top has a large air bubble. Shipment was made under contract number GS-00S-41221, purchase order unknown. Replacement is to be made to The U.S. Postal Service, Vehicle Maintenance Facility, 310 New Bern Ave. Raleigh, North Carolina 27611 and should reference control number 4QC-216-78. It is requested that disposition instructions and a firm replacement date be forwarded to this office within 5 days after receipt of this letter. The desk was manufactured during August of 1975; the contract number and other markings were not applied to the desk as required by the contract. This desk, NSN 7110-00-143-0840, has a warped section approximately 3/16" high, across the middle, top surface. Please advise this office within five days of a firm replacement date and disposition instructions for the defective unit. Future correspondence should refer to Control Number 5QC-1033-76.
