INTERNATIONAL HANDBOOK

Prepared by the Labour Research Department

THIS

Edited by R. PALME DUTT

HIS volume is the first complete survey of all the countries of the world from the Labour point of view. Hitherto, the brief international section in the Labour Year Book of 1916 has been the only sketch available. The enormous expansion of the Labour movement and its greatly extended outlook in foreign affairs have made it imperative to set forth the main problems of Europe and Asia and the rest of the world as clearly and completely as possible. For this purpose the services of various experts, well-known publicists and exponents of Labour policy, have been secured, including : NORMAN ANGELL MARGARET LLEWELYN DAVIES R. PAGE ARNOT "DEUCALION" H. N. BRAILSFORD DELISLE BURNS NOEL BUXTON

ERSKINE CHILDERS

E. M. FORSTER

R. W. POSTGATE

GEORGE YOUNG

L. S. WOOLF

The subjects dealt with are those which dominate the whole political outlook of to-day. The headings of the first six chapters are:

The Peace Treaties.

International Government.

Economic Conditions after the War.

Russia and the World.

Ireland, India and Egypt.

Problems of Racial Conflict.

The second portion of the book is given to a detailed statement of the position of the working-class movement in every country, including even China and Peru. Statistical tables are appended, and the history of the last few years is briefly summarized. The book is provided with a complete index, a full diary of 1914 to 1921, and every chapter is divided into sections dealing with particular points; the reader is thus able to turn up easily and quickly any information on international affairs.
