Battery William Warner, in honor of Brevet Captain William H. FA U. S. Army (1st lieutenant, U. S. Topographical Engineers), who serve with distinction during the war with Mexico, and who was killed in arte against Indians in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, September 9%, 1842 Battery John Vinton, in honor of Brevet Major John R. Vinton, [ $ Army (captain, 3d U. S. Artillery), who was killed in action at Vera Cra Mexico. March 22, 1847.

Battery Thomas Thornburgh, in honor of Major Thomas T. Thorph 4th U. S. Infantry, who was killed in action against Indians at Milk Ri Colorado, September 29, 1879.

The specific batteries to which the foregoing names a been given will be communicated by letter to the divis commanders.

II. Under the provisions of paragraph 198, Army Regulations, names of military reservations are announced as follows: The military reservation at Cow Island, Maine, Fort Lyon, in honor of Brigadier General Nathaniel Lyon, U. S. Volunteers (captain, 2d U. S. Infantry), who served with distinction during the war with Mexico and the civil war, and who was killed in action at Wilsons Creek, Missouri, August 10, 1861.

The military reservation at Boston Neck, Rhode Island, Fort Philip Kearny, in honor of Major General Philip Kearny, U. S. Volunteers, who served with distinction during the war with Mexico, and who was killed while visiting pickets at Chantilly, Virginia, September 1, 1862.

The military reservation at Gardiners Point, New York. Fort Tyler, in honor of Brigadier General Daniel Tyler, U. S. Volunteers, who served with distinction during the civil war, and who died November 30, 1882.

The military reservation at Fort Baker, California, will be divided into two forts by the true north and south line running through Point Diablo. The eastern portion to retain the name of Fort Baker, and the western portion (known as Point Bonita), to be named Fort Barry, in honor of Brevet Major General William F. Barry, U. S. Army (colonel, 2d U. S. Artillery), who served with distinction during the civil war, and who died July 18, 1879.

The new post established near Cloud Springs, Georgia, adjacent to Chickamauga Park, Fort Oglethorpe, in honor of James E. Oglethorpe, founder and first governor of Georgia, who settled in Savannah with 130 persons, February 1, 1733, and was recognized as governor until 1752. BY ORDER OF THE SECRETARY OF WAR:

The secretary of the Army War College is authorized to make purchases and sign contracts on behalf of the Army War College from all funds appropriated under the act of Congress approved April 23, 1904, making appropriation for the support of the Army for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1905, and for all subsequent appropriations of funds for the Army War College. All purchases and contracts pertaining to the appropriation for support of the Army War College for the fiscal year 1905, made by the secretary of the Army War College prior to the issuance of this order, are hereby approved and confirmed.
