the statute. These regulations are followed by a concise digest of decision

upon cases involving the application or construction of that peculiar portion

of the statute, the order of arrangement being:

I. Statute.

II. Regulations thereunder.

III. Digest of decisions.

Some of the sections have been found susceptible of analytical subdivision

and have been so treated, while a logical subdivision of others has been found

impracticable.

PART II is intended as a brief manual of procedure for the use primarily
of the mining claimant, but it is thought that it may be found useful as well
by the general practitioner whose business would deter him from making a
study of the statutes for information set before him as briefly and explicitly
as in this manual.

Complicated questions have not been treated herein, and but few citations
have been given, the reader being referred, in this particular, to Part I.

PART III contains (together with the surveying manual found on page

149 of Part I) a series of forms covering the essential steps in the acquisition

of title. These forms are based upon long familiarity by the compilers with

the requirements of the Mineral Land Law and Departmental practice. In

their preparation all unnecessary matters and useless verbiage have been

omitted.

Following the forms will be found the index, which it is thought is suffi-
cient in detail to enable the reader to readily find any subject-matter con-
tained in the book.
