Stran 131 - We are born for a higher destiny than that of earth. There is a realm, where the rainbow never fades, where the stars will be spread out before us, like the islands that slumber on the ocean, and where the beautiful beings, which here pass before us, like visions, will stay in our presence for ever.
Stran 2 - WHY do we mourn departing friends, Or shake at death's alarms? 'Tis but the voice that Jesus sends To call them to his arms.
Stran 4 - I held it truth, with him who sings To one clear harp in divers tones, That men may rise on stepping-stones Of their dead selves to higher things.
Stran 131 - It cannot be that earth is man's only abiding place. It cannot be, that our life is a bubble, cast up by the ocean of eternity, to float a moment upon its waves and sink into darkness and nothingness. Else why is-it that the high and glorious aspirations, which leap like angels from the temple of our hearts, are forever wandering abroad unsatisfied?
Stran 5 - MAY the blessing of Heaven rest upon us and all regular Masons; may brotherly love prevail, and every moral and social virtue cement us.
Stran 187 - We flourish and fade, as the leaves of the forest ; and the flowers that bloom, and wither and fade in a day, have no frailer hold upon life than the mightiest monarch that ever shook the earth with his footsteps. Generations of men will appear and disappear as the grass, and the multitude that throng the world to-day will disappear as footsteps on the shore.
Stran 187 - I have asked that dreadful question of the hills that look eternal — of the clear streams that flow forever— of the stars among whose fields of azure my raised spirit has walked in glory.
Stran 1 - Each Grand Commandery shall have full power and authority to prescribe the uniform to be worn by those belonging to its own jurisdiction, except that the insignia of rank shall always be under the exclusive control and regulation of the Grand Encampment, and no other authority shall alter, modify, or in any way interfere therewith.
Stran 55 - But no Letters of Dispensation for constituting a new Commandery shall be issued, save upon the recommendation of the Commandery in the same territorial jurisdiction nearest the location of the new Commandery prayed for.
Stran 131 - It is impossible that anything so natural, so necessary, and so universal as death, should ever have been designed by Providence as an evil to mankind.
