NOTE ON AMERICAN REPORTS.—The first 90 volumes of the reports of the Supreme Court of the United States are cited by the names of the different reporters (Dallas, Cranch, Wheaton, Peters, Howard, Black, Wallace). From vol. 91 they are known as the United States Reports (cited thus :-“176 U.S."). The early reports of the Federal Circuit Courts are cited by the names of the reporters, but since 1880 they are all contained in the Federal Reporter (cited “Fed. Rep.”).
