The last lecture before the Law Forum of the school year 1917-1918 was delivered by Judge James A. Ostrand of the Court of First Instance of the City of Manila, who was introduced by Dean Bocobo as one who has been a well-known and successful practitioner prior to his appointment to the bench.

The lecturer explained with simple language the mission of the lawyer, his duties to the community, and gave timely advices to the seniors who were then on the eve of their "launching" into the fights of the legal profession.

SENIORS' FAREWELL

On the evening of March 27 the seniors who passed the last ordeal and who were recommended for graduation organized an ice-cream party at the azotea of the University Hall where with some members of the Faculty they attempted to "cool off" the warmth caused by the great excitement of their passing the examinations.

FACULTY-SENIORS GAME

Following an old custom, the members of the Faculty and the Seniors met in hotly contested indoor-baseball game on April 1 at 4 p.m. in the University Campus. The Seniors were badly defeated and the cost of their defeat was a treat given by them to the winners at Paras' Store.

At about 5:30 p. m. on the same day, the planting of the Liberty Tree took place, the orators being Professor De Joya and José Domingo, Eugenio Estayo acting as toastmaster.

DINNER IN HONOR OF PROF. GILMORE

On the night of April 1st the Faculty gave a dinner at the Luneta Hotel in honor of Professor Eugene A. Gilmore on account of his departure for the United States and separation from the teaching staff of the College of Law. Mr. José A. Santos introduced the speakers: Justice Malcolm, Dean Bocobo and the guest of honor.

SENIORS HELD CLASS DAY EXERCISES

The Seniors held their class day exercises on April 2, at 8:30 p.m., at the Marble Hall. After the remarks of the Class President, Mr. Simon R. Cruz, he introduced the speakers of the evening among whom was the Honorable Alejandro de Guzman who accepted the Class Memorial in behalf of the Board of Regents of the University of the Philippines.

FACULTY RECEPTION

A reception was given by the Faculty of the whole University in honor of the graduates of the different colleges on the night of April the third. The ball was held at the University Campus and it was a grand night for all those present.

COMMENCEMENT EXERCISES

With the usual solemnities the Commencement Exercises were held in the University Campus, April 4, at 8:30 a. m., Governor-General Harrison, President Quezon and the members of the Board of Regents being present.

The Commencement address was delivered by Hon. José Escaler, Under-Secretary of Justice, while the address to the graduates was delivered by Hon. Alejandro de Guzman.

Out of the 259 graduates, 29 were from the College of Law, 27 receiving the degree of LL. B. and 2 receiving the degree of LL. M.
