Stran 32 - ... the support of the State governments in all their rights, as the most competent administrations for our domestic concerns and the surest bulwarks against antirepublican tendencies; the preservation of the General Government in its whole constitutional vigor, as the sheet anchor of our peace at home and safety abroad...
Stran 20 - If, then, the courts are to regard the Constitution— and the Constitution is superior to any ordinary act of the legislature — the Constitution, and not such ordinary act, must govern the case to which they both apply.
Stran 19 - The powers not delegated to the United States are reserved to the states, respectively, or to the people.' The government of the United States, therefore, can claim no powers which are not granted to it by the constitution, and the powers actually granted must be such as are expressly given, or given by necessary implication.

Stran 88 - Act to Regulate the Practice of Medicine in the State of Illinois...
Stran 12 - The light which enlightens, which has enlightened the darkness of the world ; and this not as a kindled lamp only, but rather as a natural luminary shining by the gift of Heaven ; a flowing light-fountain, as I say, of native original insight, of manhood and heroic nobleness ; — in whose radiance all souls feel that it is well with them.
