Stran 261 - The powers of the government of this State are divided into three distinct departments — the legislative, executive and judicial ; and no person, or collection of persons, being one of these departments, shall exercise any power properly belonging to either of the others, except as hereinafter expressly directed or permitted.
Stran 81 - For all other corporate purposes, all municipal corporations may be vested with authority to assess and collect taxes; but such taxes shall be. uniform, in respect to persons and property. within the jurisdiction of the body imposing the same.
