Stran 26 - To prohibit sectarian instruction, but to have taught in the University the immortality of the soul, the existence of an all-wise and benevolent Creator, and that obedience to His laws is the highest duty of man.
Stran 26 - GOVERNMENT OF THE STUDENTS In the government of the University the largest liberty consistent with good work, good order, and good character is given the students. Their habits of life are expected to be such as to promote daily cultivation of high moral character. They are expected in all their relations to each other and to the University to observe the usages of good society without requiring special regulations...
Stran 25 - Students are expected to show both within and without the University such respect for order, morality, personal honor, and the rights of others as is demanded of good citizens. Failure to do this will be sufficient cause for removal from the University.
Stran 38 - With these exceptions, all the undergraduate work in all the courses will be elective. The student may freely choose for such elective work any subject taught in the University, which his previous studies have prepared him to undertake.
Stran 23 - Since the idea of establishing an institution of this kind for the benefit of mankind came directly and largely from our son and only child Leland, and in the belief that had he been spared to advise as to the disposition of our estate, he would have desired the devotion of a large portion thereof to this purpose, we will that for all time to come the institution hereby founded shall bear his name, and shall be known as "The Leland Stanford Junior University.

Stran 20 - Its object, to qualify students for personal success and direct usefulness in life ; Its purpose, to promote the public welfare by exercising an influence in behalf of humanity and civilization, teaching the blessings of liberty regulated by law, and inculcating love _and reverence for the great principles of government as derived from the inalienable rights of man to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
Stran 47 - The expenses of the student, exclusive of clothing and railway fares, need not exceed $225 to $300 per year.
Stran 48 - In addition, the office of the Dean of Men keeps on file a list of rooms on the campus and in Palo Alto, at an average distance of a mile and a half from the University, which are available to men students. The University reserves the right to approve the places of residence of men not living in the dormitories.
