MEDICAL SCHOOL COURSES.

By vote of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, the following laboratory courses of research, offered by the Faculty of Medicine, are recognized as suitable courses for properly qualified students in the Graduate School. These courses are especially designed for such Graduate Students as are prepared to do original work in the lines of study proposed. They are distinct from the regular instruction given to Medical Students. The equipments of the several laboratories will be placed at the disposal of students who are admitted to these courses.

COURSES OF RESEARCH.

a. Anatomy. Practical work, without instruction, with the privilege of attending lectures in the subject. Professor DWIGHT.

b. Experimental Physiology. Associate Professor W. T. PORTER.

c. Bacteriology. Professor ERNST.

d. Comparative Vertebrate Embryology.

Ten hours a week during

the second half-year for general preparatory work, which may be accompanied by special research work as arranged with each student. Professor MINOT and Dr. F. T. LEWIS.

INSTRUCTION BY DOCTORS OF PHILOSOPHY.

By a vote of the President and Fellows, passed January 11, 1897, the Faculty is empowered to authorize any Doctor of Philosophy or of Science who shall be approved by the Department with which his work is most closely related, to give instruction for a period not exceeding four months, either gratuitously or for such fees as he may himself fix and collect. Under this vote the following courses were given in 1903-04: — The Classics.

The following Courses of Instruction are announced for the summer

Women as well as men are admitted to these courses, except to those in Surveying and Shopwork and to the field work in Geology.

In general, the Summer Courses are adapted to the needs of teachers and of those who intend to be teachers. Some of the more elementary courses, however, are intended also to meet the needs of beginners. A few of the courses may be counted towards a degree by students in the College or Scientific School. Such courses will be designated in the Faculty's Announcement for 1905-06. No entrance examination is required.

Unless otherwise stated the courses will begin on Wednesday, July 5, and will end on Tuesday, August 15.

During the session of the School the College Library will be open daily. The Museum of Comparative Zoology, the Peabody Museum, the Semitic Museum, the Fogg Art Museum, the Botanic Garden, and the Mineralogical Collection are also accessible to students in the Summer School.

The Announcement of the Summer School for the summer of 1905, containing descriptions of the proposed courses and other information, will be ready about March 1 and can be obtained by application to the Clerk of the School, 16 University Hall.

The fees for the Summer School vary in different courses. The fee for each course is stated in the Announcement. It must be paid, on entering the School, at the Bursar's office, Dane Hall.

Board and lodging may be obtained in Cambridge during the session of the School at a cost varying from four to ten dollars per week.
