MAJOR-GENERAL DAVID WOOSTER,

Made Brigadier in 1775-Commands the Connecticut forces-Made Major-general of the militia of that State-Mortally wounded at Ridgefield by the British, April 27, 1777-Died May 2, 1777.

Commissioned a Brigadier in 1775-Made a Major-general, August 9, 1776-Commands at King's Bridge-Had the custody of Burgoyne's captive army-Commands on the Hudson in 1779-Serves to the end of the war-Last of the surviving Major-generals-Died January 24, 1814.

MAJOR-GENERAL JOSEPH SPENCER,

Made Major-general August 9, 1776-In the expedition against Rhode Island in 1778-Resigns in 1779-Elected to Congress from Connecticut-Died January 13, 1789.

MAJOR-GENERAL THOMAS MIFFLIN

Joined the army at Cambridge in 1775-Made a Brigadier in 1776 -Made Major-general in February, 1777-Served with distinction throughout the war-Elected to Congress in 1783 and made President-In the Convention of 1787-First Governor of Pennsylvania under the new constitution-Quells the "Whiskey boys" in 1794Died January 20, 1800.

MAJOR-GENERAL JOHN STARK.

Joins the army in 1775-Fights at Bunker Hill, Trenton, and Princeton-Whips the British at Bennington in 1777-Serves in Rhode Island in 1778 and 1779, and in New Jersey in 1780— Commands the Northern Department at Saratoga in 1781-Serves to the end of the war-Congress, per act December 28, 1818, places him on the pension list at $60 per month, to commence August 16, 1817-Died May 8, 1822.

Joins the army in 1775-Raises a regiment of "Green Mountain Boys"-Makes a descent on Ticonderoga-Captures the garrison there, May 10, 1775-Attacks Montreal and is captured-Is exchanged in 1778-Visits Valley Forge-Retires from the armyDied February 13, 1789.
