CHAPTER I.

THE SEXUAL SYSTEM AND THE VALUE OF ITS HEALTH AND VIGOR.

SUPERIORITY OF THOSE WELL SEXED.

All animals, including human beings, are sexed; are either males or females. And the more nearly perfect the sex, the better is the animal. The more highly a man is endowed with the qualities that distinguish man from woman, the better the man is and the more admired by both men and women. The same is true of woman. The more truly feminine she is, the greater is her popularity. Nobody admires the effeminate man, and nobody likes a masculine woman. With boys and girls it is the same. The timid, cowardly, girlish boy is treated with ridicule or indifference by the boys, and is viewed with either contempt or pity by the girls; while the bold, boyish girl is shunned by other girls and avoided by the boys. Many of the qualities that we admire and commend in one sex, we dislike in the other; because nature has given us an instinctive admiration of perfection in her works; and

the truly feminine girl and the noble manly boy are among the very best works of nature. Indeed, sec

ond only to natures greatest works-perfect men and women.

INSTINCTIVE ADMIRATION OF GIRLS FOR
WELL-SEXED BOYS.

Instinctive admiration? yes. As the bird builds its nest and the beavers dam a stream and construct their habitations, and squirrels gather nuts for winter, and gather more for an unusually severe winter, and do this without being taught, and just as well the first time they try as they ever do afterwards, so will a girl just as naturally admire a boy who is noble, gallant, kind, generous and brave. In short, one who is a manly boy. One whose manner towards her is like that of a noble man toward a good woman. Indeed she cannot help admiring such a boy, and requires no more teaching to do so than does a bird to build its first nest. Her entire being longs for those gallant attentions that brave, generous, noble men bestow upon superior women ; and the boy who exhibits this gallantry towards her will receive her highest admiration. It may be that she will never stop to think what causes her to thus admire this noble boy, but the results are just the same whether she understands the reason or not.

Indeed, we all feel a regard for him that is never given to boys deficient in these qualities.

It is said that the lower animals have instinct and that man has reason; but there are some things that we do naturally, and admiring a noble boy is one of them.

IMPOSSIBILITY OF SUPERIOR MANHOOD WITHOUT

SEXUAL VIGOR.

But reason will aid us in discovering just what particular qualities and conditions constitute superiority in boys and men, and it is the object of this little book to teach you part of them, and especially one of them, and to impress you with its great importance. In many respects, it is the very most important one of all; because without this one very important quality, none of the other attributes of nobility in boyhood or manhood can reach perfection. The quality of which we speak, is a normal, healthful, vigorous sexuality. When the sexual system is very weak or greatly impaired, none of the highest qualities of boyhood or manhood can be displayed in all their strength and beauty any more than can your body perform feats of strength when the digestive system is very weak, or the brain solve a difficult problem in arithmetic or algebra, when there is an attack of bilious headache.
