SUMMER TIME (DAYLIGHT SAVING) Since 1918 most cities and towns in Canada have adopted daylight saving for varying periods in the summer months. In Britain the statutory period of Summer Time is defined in the Summer Time Acts of 1922 and 1925 but under the Summer Time Act 1947 the statutory dates may be varied by Order in Council. Since 31st October 1971, Summer Time has been used for the period between the 3rd Saturday in March and the 4th Saturday in October. Some Australian States use daylight saving schemes. ›urces= (1) Time Zone Chart of the World. Published by the Admiralty 1972. (2) Statistics Section, Economists Dept, Foreign & Commonwealth Office.
