Within the limits provided by section 1, said town may from time to time issue its notes, bearing interest or to be discounted at such rates as the town or its treasurer shall determine. SEC. 3. This act shall take effect upon its passage. CHAPTER 523. [2408] AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF PAWTUCKET TO It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: SECTION 1. The city of Pawtucket is hereby authorized and empowered, in addition to authority previously granted, to hire from time to time not exceeding five hundred thousand dollars, and to issue its notes and bonds therefor, or either of them, and to renew such notes from time to time, or any of them, as the same become due. All monies raised under the authority hereof shall be exclusively used and expended for the construction of intercepting sewers and sewage disposal works by said city, and for the purchase of land and rights of way for the same. SEC. 2. The city council of said city shall cause any bonds issued by the authority hereof to be issued for such time and in such amounts, and under such terms and conditions, and shall be fixed by said city council, and after the issue of any such bonds, said city council shall annually appropriate, so long as any such bonds are outstanding, besides a sum to pay the interest thereon, a sum to be placed as a sinking fund sufficient for the redemption of said bonds when due; and all obligations of said city which may be created under the authority of this act shall be excepted from the operation of section 22 of chapter 47 of the general laws. SEC. 3. This act shall take effect from and after its passage. CHAPTER 524. AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF PAWTUCKET TO H 692. [2410] AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF PAWTUCKET TO It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: SECTION 1. The city of Pawtucket is hereby authorized and empowered, in addition to authority previously granted, to hire, from time to time, not exceeding eight hundred thousand dollars, and to issue its notes and bonds therefor, or either of them, and to renew such notes from time to time, or any of them, as the same become due. All monies raised under the authority hereof shall be exclusively used and expended for the purchase of land, for the erection and equipment of schoolhouses, and for the erection of additions to schoolhouses and the equipment of the same. SEC. 2. The city council of said city shall cause any bonds issued by the authority hereof to be issued for such time and in such amounts, and under such terms and conditions, as shall be fixed by said city council, and after the issue of any such bonds said city council shall annually appropriate, so long as any such bonds are outstanding, besides a sum to pay the interest thereon, a sum to be placed as a sinking fund sufficient for the redemption of said bonds when due; and all obligations of said city which may be created under the authority of this act shall be excepted from the operation of section 22 of chapter 47 of the general laws. [2411] AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE COMMISSIONER OF PUBLIC It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: H 746. sewer connections inside in city of authorized. SECTION 1. Whenever a sewer has been or shall Construction of be hereafter constructed in any street or highway curbing lines in the city of Pawtucket, the commissioner of public Pawtucket, works of said city of Pawtucket may cause to be built such connections with said sewer as he may deem advisable, and may cause such connections to be extended inside of the curbing and not further than to the boundary line of the abutting estate; and the expense of said sewer connections so built shall be paid for by the abutting owners, and such expense shall be secured by lien on the abutting estate and be collected in the same manner as provided by law for the collection of other sewer assessments by said city.
