really liked it

I've had this book forever. It was very good for all the reasons you might imagine. The book only had two shortcomings:
1. It's only 1776. For someone who is not knowledgeable about early American history, hitting the ground running is strange. Battles mentioned in passing which occurred before 1776 are not explained (Lexington, Concord, Bunker Hill). Meaningless, for the most part. What happened? Who even won? It was like just getting a portion of a textbook. Sure, I appreciate the size of the book, but I would have been ok with a bit more (1775 1776 1777 is not a good title, I realize).
2. David McCullough is not the greatest narrator. I hope that I have listened to enough audiobooks to know that I should never be the reader of my own book. Other than Neil Gaiman, no one pulls it off.
There are MANY great things about it. Too many to mention. Most, I'm sure you know. So I will only add one:
I loved Henry Knox. I picture him as Chris Pratt. And I have a crush on them both.
