I'm going to make a poster with George Washington on it that says, "Never give up, even if you fail over and over again."
Written like a story rather than a textbook it's easy to see why this book is so popular. I've always considered myself pretty knowledgeable on history, and usually in a group of my peers I know more than most. There is so much I didn't know about the early revolution, basically I was just taught all the highlights that made America look good.
Really though, George and the Continental Army had a couple, admittedly (by most accounts) lucky wins at first and then their story is essentially like the first hour of the Mighty Ducks, they continued to be beaten and humiliated for most of 1776 until Christmas when they turned it around... with a not so very impressive victory.
It was awesome and written in a way that really made the whole underdog story come alive.
