David McCullough did a good job laying out the details of the major military actions that took place in 1776, giving a perspective different than focusing merely on the pivotal actions Congress took to declare independence. He even sets the mood well for the gloomiest time of the American Revolution, right before the Battle of Trenton, by expressing the views of those who doubted George Washington's ability to lead the army well.
I'm glad to say that this is one of the first books I've read for a book discussion at Maze in a while, which served as good motivation for me to push through reading it.
