Learned a lot, but this book was hard to push through. The author does a great job at weaving a narrative together by pulling together excerpts from letters and documents written by Washington and other generals, soldiers, and politicians, but fails at elaborating a persona outside of the factual sequence of events. The book doesn't provide much context for the assembling of the first congress or why the colonists supported revolution. It's mostly a book about General Washington's tactics and how he pulled together and formed the continental army. I think this book is better saved for the history majors.
