Goodreads Critique -1776 by David McCullough

In the book 1776, David McCullough explains with extreme details the events of the year 1776 during the American Revolution. The book not only talks about what happened in America, but some of the events in England during the Revolution.
This book, 1776 has many things good and few things bad in it. In 1776 David McCullough uses many styles to give the reader the experience that he deserves. One such style is show, not tell. Which he uses to give the reader a detailed image of what he is trying to explain. An example of show, not tell that the author uses is “...where open fields and low-lying wooded hills were only now showing the first faint signs of spring”. This book was most likely the most well written book that I have ever read in my life. Only one thing bugged me while I was reading it and that was that the author consistently didn’t make fluid transitions into his quotes. This book was very similar to the book that I recently read, Patton's Panthers, both books talked about wars fought in American history. What really made these similar was the detail the authors used to explain certain scenes that made you feel as if you were there. I recommend this book to people who desire the most in depth telling of some of the most important parts of the American Revolution.
