David McCullough is a well-respected and prolific Pulitzer-prize-winning historical writer. This is the first time I have read his work. I was impressed with his clarity, and with the obvious meticulous research and attention to detail. What is missing is humor and the ability to selectively choose parts of history that are of greater interest. Instead, much of the book details the minutae of famous battles of the Revolutionary War at Boston, New York, and Trenton. If you like war strategy and troop movements, you will like this book more than me.
