A very good account of the event of the year 1776 at the start of the Revolutionary War. The author offers a lot of information from personal journals and letters of a variety of people during this time period, and the overall the book is well researched. It was a trying time in our Nation's history, and the year was filled with many tragic setbacks, but it was also accompanied with tremendous courage and steadfast loyalty to a vision.
The author offers a lot of insight into the lives of General George Washington, Nathaniel Green and Henry Knox most notably which helps to keep this historical novel from being just a history lesson, and more of an account of real people in challenging times. A very good read, and something every American should become familiar with.
