Loading... Thomas Jefferson Heinrichs, Ann. (2002). Thomas Jefferson. Minnesota: Compass Point Books.by Ann HeinrichsI have always been a big fan of Thomas Jefferson and this book did not let me down. It has just enough to paint the picture of a great American while not going to in depth for the level of comprehension to a middle reader. Although I am still shocked that books wouldn't mention a couple of things that I feel are important. One being that he attempted to dispell slavery in the Declaration of Independence despite having the slaves himself but was talked out of it to prevent pissing the south off and increase support for the war among those southern colonies. Second, is the fact that the Louisiana Purchase that was executud by Jefferson was completely unconstitutional as the power of the purse belongs to Congress and not the President. Great for American History or a Presidents programming unit gauged at a middle readers' level |

This would be a great text to use in History when studying the Presidents of the US. Also good to use for looking at factual information.
