Hearing the stories and struggles of the Revolutionary War was deeply moving, and it is truly a miracle that the Colonial Army defeated the British. However, I am only rating this 3 stars because for the most part, the author would write lengthy passages of facts held together by disjointed and dense quotes. I would have liked a more interesting narrative to bring the facts to life (Sherri McInnes, who has read every book ever published, told me that Doris Kearns Goodwin does this much better than McCullough). For this reason, I didn't LOVE the book, but I am certainly glad I read it. I have gained a new appreciation for events, sacrifices, and individuals responsible for the birth of our country, and I would recommend it to anyone.

Sherri You stole my thunder. Your three star review was my cue to say --go read some Goodwin!

Brennan Hopefully me giving you high praise for your reading habits makes up for it!

Sherri Ha! Yes, you were very generous. Of course if that were true, it'd be so sad. What would I do with myself if there were no more books to read?
