I was interested in reading 1776 because McCullough authored one of my favorite books of all time, John Adams. The reason I really liked John Adams is because I thought it humanized all the forefathers present rather well. It made them relatable! 1776 does that too, just not as well. This book goes much more into the strategy Washington and his continental army employed. That stuff is a lot more dry to me personally than getting an intimate look at the relationships between John had with Abigail Adams, Benjamin Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson. But if you're into what goes into fighting a war, this book is for you. I had no idea America was doing so horribly for so long throughout the war-- I guess that slipped my mind. It is cool to see how Washington and the Americans persevered and fought for what they believed in, even when all hope was lost. And here I am not even able to make myself breakfast most days! Booooo Markus!!!
