After reading McCullough's "Wright Brothers", which was really good, I was looking forward to his Pulitzer prize-winning "1776". I was shockingly disappointed. The author did a pretty good job telling the story of that historic year in our nation's history, but to me, it seemed to drag along and pieced together. The main characters in the story came and went and there just wasn't much excitement expressed in the book. The ending is great, but the majority of the book was average. I plan to read "Truman" next year and hope its much better than "1776" and on par with "Wright Brothers".
