did not like it

Despite the fact that I like books on history and have read another of David McCullough's books (John Adams), this one was torture. It is so jammed packed with so much 'historically accurate' information it's more like reading a huge book of footnotes. Most of the information is just factual rather than relevant, leaving you wondering where you should be focusing. Is the idea that it's worth reading just because it's a log of the minutia of the time?
