What?
This book tells the story of those who march with General George Washing in 1776 which was the year of the Declaration of Independence. With the whole American cause riding on their success, and without that the hope for independence would have been dashed.
Now what?
I would use this text in a middle school or high school classroom to discuss the events of the Revolutionary War.
So what?
I would use this book to let my students see that the Americans were still fighting for their cause and taking a stand to be independent. I would read excerpts from the book to show the fight and the spirit that the individuals had during the American Revolution to continue to fight for their cause.
