I was amazed that an upstart rag tag buch of farmers and shop keepers could defeat a major military power of the day. Yes, some of the Colonists had Indian war experience. But, were not seasoned soldiers like the Brits. But, there was passion in the leadership of the Colonists and what seemed like apathy on the part of the British military leadership. I really think they thought they would swat this uprising like they would a fly. I also felt like destiny was on the Colonist's side. But, then war and real life are nothing like what Hollywood has taught us.
