After visiting the Saratoga Battlefield in July, I got on a little American Revolution kick and decided to read this book. I found the book enjoyable in that it changed my perspective toward the war. Having never really learned about the war in depth, I always just assumed that the Americans under Washington "cleaned house", but McCullough's work, while humanizing Washington, shows that this was not the case. Additionally, I found it fascinating how much luck played a role (e.g., the changing of the wind) in the overall outcome of the war. Overall, a worthwhile read.
