A veritable chess game played on the grounds of America in its infancy. Howe's resolve to suppress the rebels (and at times extend overtures of peace) versus Washington’s perseverance and spirit. For those interested in the military history of the revolution, this book gives you insight on each battle, scrimmage, and war strategies exchanged in meetings with the war counsel or correspondences. I was upset that the narration was truncated and did not continue through the battle in Virginia and amplify on the French involvement. Overall, good read and cool pictures inserted throughout the chapters (at least in my edition).
