Excellent treatment of the beginning of the American Revolutionary War. This book gave me a great appreciation of the value of the Southern (Virginia) culture that made General Washington who he was (and many other leaders who they were), the divine intervention that kept the effort alive in the face of an overwhelming superpower, and the genius and initiative of George Washington contrasted with the hesitation and caution by the British generals which continually allowed Washington to keep his military alive during that first incredibly challenging year.
