This book is very breezy and very easy to read so it may appeal to readers, unfortunately for me it just felt unimportant. A much better book on the topic is The Glorious Cause by Robert Middlekauff; and also it covers the period from 1763 to 1789 so more history for your buck. My apologies to McCullough fans, you are a loyal bunch.
