I don't know what it was that made this book kind of tedious but when, toward the end, I was listening and it became clear that the book was winding down, that it would just cover (more or less) the year 1776, not the rest of the years of The Revolutionary War, I was relieved. Glad it's over. Just kind of glad I read it.
