The book is well-written and well-researched with names both very familiar (George Washington) and unfamiliar (Nathanael Greene). It should be noted the book is literally what happens on the military front in 1776, so if you're looking for the context of how the colonists got to that year or how the founders crafted the Declaration of Independence or how people like Cornwallis eventually got to Yorktown for the war's end, this book leaves those questions unanswered. There were moments where the book did seem to lag a bit.
