Not a favorite. Mainly because 1776 was more or less the starting year (yes, yes, Lexington, Concord, and Bunker Hill were 1775. Leave me alone.). We meet personalities and see the lay of the land, but there are relatively few military encounters (the British departure of Boston, the folly of New York, the crossing of the Delaware and the skirmishes of Trenton and Princeton). The big reveal (identical to that of WWII) is that true leadership is incredibly rare, and incompetent officers are more the rule than the exception.

Anyway, was just as happy to be done with this. I think I would have better served by finding a Max Hastings-type overview of the Revolutionary War...this seems more an intermediate/advanced work for military history buffs already well familiar with the broad strokes.
