What McCullough does best is collate a TON of different sources together to tell his story - impressive. However, it's missing so much context. I suppose if you're literally going into it expecting "the story of what happened in the revolutionary war between 1/1/1776 and 12/31/1776", you'll be satisfied. But for a *history* book, it was sorely lacking table-setting at the beginning and felt like it ended because nothing else happened in 1776. Enjoyable, but not groundbreaking like it was made out to be.
